UNIVERSITY of Pretoria winger Speke Manamela is using a soccer tournament to make a meaningful contribution to the education of young Modimolle, Limpopo residents.

He is funding the Speke Manamela Charity Cup from his own pocket where proceeds are used to buy uniforms and pay for the studies of needy children in the area.

It will be played at Ephraim Mohale Stadium from December 24 to 29 with 16 clubs from as far afield as Hamanskraal, Mokopane and Mookgopong taking part.

Manamela, younger brother of popular politician Buti Manamela, has also asked other Premier Soccer League players to conduct coaching clinics.

"Tlou Segolela, Happy Jele, Vincent Kobola, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Mpho Matsi, Bongani Zungu and Lizo Mjempu will also offer motivation talk on December 29," he said.

"The tournament has generated massive interest in Modimolle.
